New month, new news for YRISC members …
The Regatta was held last Sunday (1 September). Many thanks to all those who turned up to help make it such a success – not just the people who sailed (in some tricky conditions), but also those who ran the racing, drove the rescue boats, tidied up beforehand, cut the grass, waved the flags, blew the hooters, managed the barbecue, made the salads, brought the cakes, ate the cakes, entertained us with some spectacular capsizes, and welcomed our visitors from Yorkshire Ouse SC. Overall winners were Steve P and Tim in the yellow boat. Steve seems to be making a habit of winning things, after the previous weekend in Dublin.
Saturday 5 October, 10.30 to 15.30 – Sail training day on the river. An “improvers” course, designed to help you on your way towards RYA Level 2. There will be a £10 charge to cover costs. Please let Mike Craggs know if you are interested – by signing up on the list in the clubhouse or by sending an e-mail. Numbers limited, so book early.
Friday 29 November – YRISC Annual Dinner, Lady Anne Middleton’s Hotel. £22 a head. Good food, good company, speeches, presentation of trophies, raffle prizes … An evening not to be missed. A sign-up sheet will soon appear in the clubhouse, but put the date in your diary now.
All trophies to be returned to Pete Craggs by 13 October, please.
Meanwhile, back to the river. The Autumn Points series starts on Sunday. Come and sail!
