October Club News

What’s just happened, what’s coming up soon …

You have all heard about the two new boats by now, I guess. Most of you even seem to have had a go in them, by all accounts. For those who haven’t heard – We now have two RS Vision dinghies, acquired thanks to a generous grant from Sport England. They will be particularly suitable as training boats, and will really come into their own for next year’s Level 1 course. But meanwhile they are available for members to use. The committee has decided to set a fee of £1 per half day for using them, to come into effect next spring. This will be used to help with maintenance costs. Expect to see a collecting tin in the club house in due course. Watch this space for further details.
Sunday 20 October – RS Vision day. We’ll run a session on how to rig the new boats, how to sail them, etc. Usual time (11 am), usual place.
Trophies – make sure to get them all back to Peter Craggs by 20 October, so that they can be handed out to the right people at the …
… Annual Dinner. Friday 29 November. You know this already. You should have received a menu. Sign up now!
Sunday 10 November – End-of-season working party and tidy-up session. Many helpers required from 11 am. We have a club house to reorganise, some trees to prune, and no doubt we’ll find some other essential jobs.
Tuesday 10 December – End-of-season social event and meeting. A certain amount of meeting to discuss next year’s programme, but mostly social. Steve and Liz Parry’s house (109 Bramley Garth, YO31 0PQ), 7.30 pm, further details nearer the time.
