May 2014 e-News

Ullswater weekend, Friday 20 to Sunday 22 June

The usual annual event – camping, sailing, barbeque, floodlit football and/or cricket and/or frisbee (minus the floodlights), a great weekend away and the social highlight of the year. All members and friends welcome! Please send a message to if you (a) have a towbar and could tow a boat there, (b) would like a lift, or (c) need directions. In particular, we need a volunteer to tow the rescue boat.

Tour de France, Sunday 6 July

In conjunction with the York Grand Départ, City of York Council is running an “activity hub site” at McArthur Glenn, Retail Outlet Centre, on this date. Along with other sports clubs, we have been invited to set up a stand to promote the club and attract new members, etc. We would like to do it, but we will need some volunteers. Might you be available for a few hours on Sunday 6 July to help set up and run a stand? If so, you know what to do – send a message to right away!

Club boats

Remember – new for 2014 – each time you use a club boat, you must (a) pay the £1 hire fee per half day, or £2 per day, and (b) complete the check-out/check-in form in the club house. That way, we build up a small kitty for maintaining the boats, and keep track of any work that needs to be done on them. Thanks for your cooperation!
