OPEN DAY, Sunday 24 April. As ever, we are hoping for bright sunshine and steady breezes – even though experience suggests that we are more likely to get a good turnout if it’s pouring with rain all day. Either way, we need volunteers to help with meet & greet, sailing, rescue boat, galley. Please come if you can. Official opening hours are 11.00–15.00, so please be there at 10.00 if you possibly can.
RESCUE BOAT TRAINING: Wednesday 27 April. 7.00 pm. There are still two places free on this short evening course. Really useful skills! Let Peter Craggs know if you’d like to join in.
RYA LEVEL 1 COURSE, Tuesday 10 May, Friday 13 May, Tuesday 17 May, Friday 20 May (evenings); Saturday 21 May (all day). Volunteers will be needed to help with rescue boat etc. A sign-on sheet will appear in the club house soon. But please keep those dates free!
FIRST AID COURSE, date to be arranged. Mike is happy to run another sailing-related first aid course. There would be a small charge, to cover the cost of the handbook, etc. If you are interested, please let him know.
NEWSLETTER. Do you really want the next issue to be totally devoted to tales from Barbados? Please do your best to stop the Barbadian take-over. Send your contribution to Angela now. Anything at all – a short article, no matter how (ir)relevant to sailing on the Ouse, a photo, a drawing, a joke … Perhaps take a leaf out of Jens’s book and tell us something about where and what and how you sailed before you joined YRISC?
Finally, you have no doubt all renewed your membership already … But, just in case: Remember that you can download a form from the club website (here) or PAY YOUR SUB ELECTRONICALLY to York RI Sailing Club, sort code 20-99-56, a/c 83096025, and send a note to firstname.lastname@example.org to let the treasurer know you’ve paid.
