In light of the developing coronavirus (COVID-19) situation, the York RI Sailing Club committee has taken the difficult decision that all club events, including all sailing activities, are cancelled until the end of April 2020. This includes the GP14 Open meeting scheduled for 18 April. In addition, we have cancelled the “discover sailing” open evening on Wednesday 29 April, the open day planned for Sunday 3 May, and the RYA Level 1 course scheduled to start on Friday 8 May.
If you have a boat stored at the club you may go and tend to it as necessary, but on any visit to club premises you must follow current government guidelines on social distancing.
We will review the situation in early April, and at frequent intervals after that, and we will inform you of any changes to the policy as the situation develops.
We very much regret having to take this decision, and we are aware that this year’s sailing season will inevitably be cut short – but we very much hope that you will nonetheless support the club in these difficult times by paying your subscriptions for 2020.
Stay safe, and keep well

The 2019 sailing programme is now out. Please make sure that you are aware of the OOD dates you have been allocated, and arrange swaps if you cannot make any of the dates.
See you on the water in a few weeks. 🙂
The sailing season is now less than two months away and at YRISC we are working hard to plan the sailing programme for this year. Until then, here are some key dates that have already been established:
Tuesday 5 February: York RI Sailing Club AGM, York RI, Queen Street. 7.30 pm. Formal notification to follow soon.
Thursday 21 February: our Annual Quiz. Usual place (Marcia Inn, Bishopthorpe), but this year we will have a new format. Watch this space for further details …
Sunday 3 March: Cleaning day. All hands on deck (or on slipway) to get everything ready for sailing season …
… which starts on Sunday 10 March.
Looking further ahead – the Ullswater weekend is scheduled for 29/30 June, the Regatta for Sunday 8 September, and the GP14 open meeting (Round Holes trophy) for Saturday 28 September.
And last not least, the dates for the Level 1 Sailing Course
have been set, starting 3 May.
