1 July 2021: Sorry, TRAINING COURSE IS FULL. Please contact us for further information on other possibilities.

The cost of the course will be £100.00. You will also need to be a member of the club – see membership details here. Membership brings lots of benefits, including access to the club boats (once you are competent to sail them), a space to park your own boat, a river licence, and an active social programme. This year, in recognition of the ongoing impact of Covid-19, we are offering extended club membership to anyone who participates in the course. Any subscription paid in association with the sailing course will run through 2022 – which means that your membership will be valid until 31 March 2023.

For the course, we provide buoyancy aids. Participants simply need some old but warm clothes and a pair of soft-soled shoes. Please also bring a complete change of clothing.

At the end of the course students should have reached Level One standard (or better) and we shall present each one with a certificate. This means that  everybody should be able to helm a dinghy without supervision in light winds and possess the skill to sail it properly round a course and return to land in safety. They will also know what to do in the event of a capsize! If the group advance well (and most do), we shall end up running some simple races just to introduce students to the more exciting side of the sport.

Our sailing season runs from mid-March to the end of October, and if you can fit it in, we recommend that you come down one Sunday prior to the course, and we will be happy to take you out for a ‘taster’ sail. If you drop us an email, we can arrange it for you.

There will be ample opportunity to continue sailing once the course is over, and your membership of the club will run until 31 March 2023! For more details, or to reserve a place on the course, please contact us.

Acceptance onto the course is at the discretion of the Senior Instructor
